On July 1, 2012, Pastor Gary Weaver began his new apointment here at Wesley, Bloomsburg, congregation, and his wife, Cindy.
Gary and Cindy both graduated from Hempfield High School (Lancaster County)
in 1978 (yes, that makes them both 51 years old), and although they went to the senior
prom together they were not high school sweethearts.
They married June 26, 1982, at Chiques United Methodist Church (Cindy's home church), and they moved to Elizabethtown where Gary worked as a funeral director at the Frank S. Miller Funeral Home.
In 1985 their first child, Isaac, was born. In 1987 they moved to Williamsport
where Gary was employed to manage the Maneval Funeral Home.
In 1988 their second son, Aaron, was born.
Cindy has worked as the administrative assistant to the Harrisburg District Superintendent of the United Methodist Church, The Reverend Dr. Deborah Heisley-Cato.
Cindy has a thirteen year old dog named Riley.
Gary received a bachelor of arts degree from Lycoming College, Williamsport, a master of divinity from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Philadelphia, and a doctor of ministry from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. Gary presently serves on the Susquehanna Conference Missional Board, the Susquehanna
Stewardship Foundation Board (vice-president), and serves as the chairperson of the Parish Development and Social Ministry Committee. For the last thirteen years, Gary has served as a team uncle at the Little League World Series in Williamsport.
Cindy and Pastor Gary's oldest son, Isaac, married Colleen Kafka (Candor, New York) last summer at an outdoor wedding in Ithaca, New York, with perfect June weather.
Cindy's brother, The Reverend Ken Myers (Atlanta,GA), performed the wedding and got married himself three days later in Hershey. Aaron, their youngest son, works as an exercise physiologist at the Bariatric Metabolic Institute in Lancaster.
Aaron is engaged to Mary Webster (Wilmington, Delaware) with a wedding planned for July 28 of this year. He plans toattend medical school in the fall.
