greeter 2Thank you for your interest in Wesley United Methodist Church. We all were new, at one time, and we remember what it’s like. So we’ve provided the information below, knowing that it’s easier to venture into a new place when you know what to expect.

If you want to learn more about our church, this is the place. We love it when newcomers come and check us out. You will find that we are a warm, friendly, and relaxed congregation. There is no dress code. Be yourself. Come as you are.

Our side menu is filled with information about the church that matters to you when trying to decide on a place for you and your family to worship.

About Us

Wesley Church exists to encourage all people to pursue a lifelong, joyous relationship with Jesus Christ. Our history dates back to 1896 where the cornerstone was laid on the current site on the corner of Market and Third Streets in May of 1896. Wesley United Methodist Church is a member of the Susquehanna Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Sunday Mornings

Coffee Cafe 4Our Sunday service is a great place to start. We offer worship services at two different times on Sunday. There is a nursery available for both services.

The first service is at 8:00am and the second service is at 10:30am. The services are similar with our wonderful Sanctuary Choir performing at 10:30.

Come a few minutes early so you have time to visit, use the restrooms, or have some coffee and tea. Please don’t be afraid to enter if you are running late. We still we would love to have you visit us.

Our congregation spans a range of ages and backgrounds. The pastor dresses conservatively, but you’ll see people in the pews dressed in all styles—from jeans to business suits. Wesley Church offers classic worship that features traditional repertoire and excellence in choral and instrumental music.

Each service lasts for approximately one hour. During the service, the pastor will encourage you to greet the people sitting around you, but no one will single you out as a visitor. Also, we don’t expect our visitors to give. So feel free to let the offering plate pass by when it comes down your row.

Help On Sundays

Our Sanctuary is located inside the main entrance and vestibule. There are people waiting to provide you with directions to the various areas of the building and provide you with any additional information you need.

You can also enter through the doors on Third Street or at the rear of the building on Murray Avenue.

If you have trouble with steps, there is a handicap ramp at the rear of the building on Murray Avenue and access to a elevator. Greeters inside all doors will assist you with directions to the Sanctuary.

The church’s parking lot is also located on Murray Avenue; however, due to its small size it fills up easily. Parking is also available behind the Bloomsburg Technology Center (also known as the old Elks Building), the municipal lot nearby and street parking.

You are welcome to our complimentary coffee and treats located in the Coffee Cafe in our Multipurpose Room. This is located thru the sanctuary and just inside the Third Street entrance.

At the end of the service, as you walk out Pastor Gary or the Liturgist will be at the sanctuary doors. Please make sure you introduce yourself.

Getting Connected

Getting connected at Wesley is about relationships that get beneath the surface. Those kinds of relationships won’t come simply by attending worship services. They take time.

One way to get connected is to join a Sunday School class or a Bible study. These are available for all ages—children and youth. Classes for men and women—called Adult Fellowship Classes—meet at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday mornings at the same time children and youth meet.

Serving others also deepens your relationship with God and people. We offer a variety of service opportunities that will connect you with a team of staff and volunteers who work together in serving others and God.
